Mixed Bag Tuesday

We thought we'd bring a mixed bag of news today.  They're not quite the news that the main stream media is covering, with the exception of course of the Republican primaries.

The first story was chosen, selfishly.  We need to know that the apparent candidate can have a shot at defeating Obama.  We chose the George Will story for the same reason.  Hopefully the GOP does have a plan B to defeat Obama.

The Carbonite story was chosen because readers need to know that not all Americans agree with the companies that pulled their advertisments from the Rush Limbaugh show.  The hypocrisy was too much to bear as well as the double standards applied to one commentator and not others.

We decided to go with the Tim Tebow story because we feel that everyone needs a "feel good" story now and again, and Tim Tebow is like a blast of fresh air  in a stagnant environment.

To tell the truth, we are so happy to see Dennis Kucinich lose in the primary that we just had to provide those who dislike him as much as we do to read about his defeat.   In all, an eclectic mix of best reads not seen often on TV.

Do not write Mitt Romney off yet

by   -  Washington Post

It is the temptation of the columnist to universalize the moment — to present transient trends as exceptional, predictive and permanent. A direction is presented as a destiny. A snapshot is expanded into an epic. But history — driven by decisive contingencies — pays little mind.

Eight months ago, President Obama was losing the debt debate with congressional Republicans. His approval rating was approaching an all-time low, with support collapsing among independents and fading among Democrats. “I think it would be a good idea,” said Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), “if President Obama faced some primary opposition.” READ MORE

Investors Flee Carbonite After Limbaugh Announcement

by Jeff Poor - The Daily Caller

On Saturday, Carbonite CEO David Friend released a statement on his company’s website declaring that Carbonite had decided to “withdraw” advertising from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show in the wake of his controversial remarks involving Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke because it will “ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse”:
Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.
However, it hasn’t done much to contribute to his company’s stock price. Since the market opened on Monday through its close today, Carbonite stock (NASDAQ:CARB) has plummeted nearly 12 percent, outpacing the drop of the NASDAQ index in that same time period by nine-and-a-half points. It was also one of the biggest decliners on the NASDAQ on Tuesday.  READ MORE

Plan B for stopping Obama

by George Will - Washington Post

“The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. The next and most urgent counsel is to take stock of reality.”
— William F. Buckley,  Sept. 11, 1964

On that evening 48 years ago — it was still summer, early in the presidential campaign — Buckley, whose National Review magazine had given vital assistance to Barry Goldwater’s improbable capture of the Republican nomination, addressed the national convention of the conservative Young Americans for Freedom. Buckley told his fervent acolytes that “when we permit ourselves to peek up over the euphoria” of Goldwater’s nomination, we see that it occurred “before we had time properly to prepare the ground.”

He then sobered his boisterous audience: “I speak of course about the impending defeat of Barry Goldwater.” He urged “the necessity of guarding against the utter disarray that sometimes follows a stunning defeat.” Goldwater’s doomed campaign should, Buckley said, be supported because it plants “seeds of hope, which will flower on a great November day in the future.” They did, 16 Novembers later.
Buckley understood the possibility of constructive defeat. He also understood the need to economize conservatism’s energies. READ MORE

Tebow talks Bible verses, ministering and Tebowing

by  - The Las Vegas Sun

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow went deep Saturday night, inspiring thousands of church worshipers who came to hear him tell football stories and how his experiences have made him an inspirational Christian man in the National Football League.
Tebow spent about 45 minutes talking with Kevin Odor, senior pastor of Canyon Ridge Christian Church, in an interview that tied in to several Bible verses.

In the first of two Saturday services, more than 4,000 people — hundreds of them wearing Tebow’s No. 15 Broncos jersey — crammed into Canyon Ridge’s cavernous auditorium. Odor said before the interview that 1,000 more were logged on to the church’s website, watching a live streamed broadcast of the service.  READ MORE

One Loser... No Closers

As Democrat Rep. Dennis Kucinich lost a primary contest in Ohio, Super Tuesday produced three winners, one loser, and a Republican Party still in search of a nominee.

Frontrunner Mitt Romney won Idaho, Virginia, Vermont, Alaska, and his home state of Massachusetts. Rick Santorum, who had dropped in national polls in recent days, scored victories in Oklahoma and Tennessee, and continued his dominance in the Great Plains with a win in North Dakota. Newt Gingrich took his home state of Georgia.

Ohio was called for Romney, who enjoyed a narrow but crucial victory. The only candidate who failed to win anywhere was Ron Paul, who has fought hard to win delegates but has yet to take a single state primary or caucus.  READ MORE

Crunches for example will only work when you get into the greater ranges of 3-5 categories of 20 or more. This is mostly because this being active is primarily to overall tone the abs and not develop them larger. Weighted ab exercises on the other side would go through same 2 categories of 5-8 concept if
